Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
Cybersecurity Engineer focused on pre-sales technical discovery, solution design, and vendor-partner engagement across a security services portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery and scoping discussions with prospective and existing customers; translate business requirements into solution architectures across the team’s portfolio including MXDR, EDR/XDR, SASE/ZTNA, email security, SSPM/DSPM, password management, brand protection, and security awareness training.
- Plan, set up, and run customer proofs of concept and product demonstrations across the vendor stack; define success criteria, execute evaluations, and convert results into proposal-ready findings.
- Deliver bilingual walkthroughs when required (JP/EN) during evaluations, demonstrations, and customer technical sessions.
- Create architecture diagrams, bills of materials, technical scope documents, assumptions, and high-level effort estimates to support proposals and Statements of Work.
- Contribute technical content for RFI / RFP responses and support quote conditions by aligning technical scope with customer needs.
- Maintain working-level technical relationships with strategic vendor sales-engineering counterparts; stay current on vendor product roadmaps, new features, and competitive positioning.
- Conduct comparative evaluations for potential new service offerings (examples provided: DSPM, ASM, AI security).
- Ensure a clean technical handover from pre-sales to Delivery / Architect teams, including scope, assumptions, customer expectations, and known risks.
- Participate in kickoff sessions and remain available for technical clarification through early delivery phases.
- Act as a primary pre-sales technical resource for accounts in the New York region, with an emphasis on Japanese-headquartered financial institutions, trading companies, and insurers; also support other US regions as needed.
- Apply regulated-customer context into scoping and solution design for NYDFS Part 500, FFIEC, and SOX IT.
- Build and maintain reusable solution templates, reference architectures, and pre-sales collateral; conduct enablement sessions and product walkthroughs for the broader KDDI America sales organization.
- Support account planning by mapping customer environments to KAM’s service offerings.
- Feed recurring pre-sales gaps, customer objections, and lost-deal technical reasons back into service improvement and roadmap discussions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to maturing the team’s pre-sales methodology.
Requirements
- Experience leading technical discovery and scoping for security solution architectures across a portfolio (MXDR, EDR/XDR, SASE/ZTNA, email security, SSPM/DSPM, password management, brand protection, security awareness training).
- Ability to plan, set up, and lead customer proofs of concept and product demonstrations, including defining success criteria and running evaluations.
- Capability to produce proposal-supporting technical documentation (architecture diagrams, bills of materials, technical scope documents, assumptions, high-level effort estimates).
- Experience supporting RFI / RFP technical responses and customer-facing quote conditions.
- Comfort maintaining working-level technical relationships with vendor sales-engineering counterparts and performing comparative evaluations for new service offerings (DSPM, ASM, AI security).
- Experience with regulated customer scoping and solution design using NYDFS Part 500, FFIEC, and SOX IT context.
- Skill in bilingual (JP/EN) walkthroughs when required.
- Capability to manage pre-sales to Delivery / Architect handover including scope, assumptions, customer expectations, and known risks.
- Experience creating and leveraging reusable solution templates and pre-sales collateral; ability to run enablement sessions and product walkthroughs.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of pre-sales methodology.
Compensation
- USD 80,000 - 100,000 per year (depending on experience)
