Data Engineer
Job Description
Data Engineer role in Portsmouth, NH onsite, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining data systems to support business operations, with Snowflake and modern cloud data architecture as core areas of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines using Snowflake as the enterprise data warehouse.
- Optimize Snowflake performance through clustering, warehouse sizing, query tuning, and cost management.
- Develop and maintain integrations from source systems using SQL, Python, and orchestration frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including business analysts, product managers, and software engineers to ensure smooth data integration into current systems.
- Monitor data pipelines, proactively identify issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Support Agile project delivery in partnership with PMO, Product Owners, and technical teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4–7 years of data engineering experience with significant hands-on Snowflake usage in production environments.
- Snowflake or cloud platform certifications preferred.
- Advanced expertise in Snowflake architecture, SQL development, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with data modeling techniques (dimensional, relational, and analytical models).
- Proficiency in Python or similar languages for data engineering and automation.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or similar).
- Understanding of cloud platforms and modern data stack concepts.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security best practices.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
