Data Engineer

Charles Schwab is building dependable data platforms that support Sales & Service and other critical business processes. In this role, you’ll help strengthen Schwab’s enterprise data strategy by delivering scalable data pipelines and maintainable solutions on modern cloud technologies. You’ll collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate evolving needs into reliable systems, while contributing to improved testing and delivery practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise data solutions that support critical business processes and advance Schwab’s data platform strategy.
• Design scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Improve testing and delivery practices to strengthen solution quality and reliability.
• Support modernization of cloud-based data platforms.
• Address complex technical problems and make sound decisions that improve solution performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate evolving requirements into maintainable solutions as priorities and technologies change.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering, data engineering, or enterprise application development experience.
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data integration and data engineering solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Python, Microsoft SQL Server, Google Cloud Platform, Airflow, Informatica IDMC, data modeling, GitHub, and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of change data capture, medallion architecture, reconciliation, data processing, data lakes, and data warehousing.
• Ability to support quality assurance, automated testing, and compliance practices to deliver reliable solutions.
• Demonstrated skills in problem solving, communication, cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and adaptability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in wealth management, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Certifications such as SnowPro, Google Cloud, Cloud Data Engineering, or related credentials.
• Experience contributing to large-scale cloud modernization or data platform transformation initiatives.
• Experience with DevOps, observability, production support, performance optimization, and automated testing.
• Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement practical, scalable solutions.
• Ability to produce concise, well-structured technical and business documentation.

Compensation and Location

Locations: Southlake, TX; Austin, TX; Chicago, IL (onsite)

Pay range: USD 48 - 59 per hour

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
