Data Engineer
Job Description
Sage Care Inc is building healthcare products that depend on reliable, scalable access to sensitive data. This role is centered on owning the end-to-end lifecycle of healthcare data, from integration and secure storage through extraction, summarization, and the user experiences that let teams view and manage it. You will also collaborate across data management, ML/AI research, and software engineering to support workflows that power Provider Matching, Scheduling, Referral Recommendation, and AI voice agents.
In this onsite position based in Palo Alto, CA, you will lead the design and implementation of core systems used to fetch, store, and transform healthcare information while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
What you’ll do
- Build and own the core data management system for Sage Care.
- Create data fetch solutions through integrations with systems such as EPIC.
- Design flexible, scalable, efficient storage solutions that are HIPAA compliant.
- Develop user-facing UI to view and manage data.
- Implement a knowledge extraction layer on top of raw data.
- Summarize key results from Provider notes.
- Extract high-level important properties from raw data.
What you bring
- 5+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data extraction and summarization.
- Experience working closely with end users in an iterative process to gather feedback and refine outputs.
- Strong backend engineering skills with systems thinking.
- Comfort working through ambiguous problems and defining solutions from first principles.
- Experience converting novel techniques into testable prototypes.
