Job Description

Onsite in Houston, TX, this Data Engineer role focuses on building reliable data foundations and modernizing databases and data-related processes. You will help strengthen performance, security, disaster recovery evolution, and replication while migrating data from on premises systems to cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain core databases and related data processes
  • Partner with the development team to optimize and simplify the data architecture
  • Own performance and capacity monitoring for database environments
  • Optimize and execute data-related jobs and scripts as required
  • Collaborate with product developers to expand data schemas and optimize for common use cases
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of disaster recovery plans
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls
  • Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards within the team
  • Perform performance testing and evaluation to support optimal performance and data integrity
  • Implement database replication between environments using internal tools and Enterprise Database tools
  • Plan and execute migrations of data from on premises databases to cloud data platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field, plus seven (7) years of experience as a Data Engineer or Oracle Database Administrator
  • Six (6) years working with large Oracle Databases, including complex SQL and PL/SQL packages
  • Four (4) years in optimization and execution of data-related jobs and scripts
  • Two (2) years designing databases and developing high-volume data solutions, including highly available, replicated, enterprise-scale database environments
