Job Description
Robert Half is hiring a Data Engineer in Madison, WI for an onsite role focused on cloud data capabilities. The position supports reliable, scalable data platforms used for analytics and reporting, including building data solutions, automating data movement, and strengthening data quality and platform stability.
Role summary
You will help design and deliver practical data systems that enable information to be accessed, trusted, and used across analytics and reporting teams. Work spans data modeling, performance improvements in large-scale cloud environments, and troubleshooting to keep data platforms running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Build data solutions that improve how information is accessed, and make it more reliable and usable for analytics and reporting teams.
- Enhance organizational data movement by creating efficient, automated processes that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
- Support large-scale cloud data environments by improving performance, troubleshooting issues, and helping maintain platform stability.
- Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data solutions.
- Develop and refine data models for operational reporting, business intelligence initiatives, and future growth.
- Work with a range of data sources and formats to ensure information can be used effectively across teams and applications.
- Help establish data quality standards using validation, monitoring, and continuous process improvements.
Required qualifications
- Cloud-based data engineering and platform development
- Data warehousing and analytics environments
- SQL development and data modeling
- Python-based data processing and automation
- Ability to build and support modern ETL or ELT frameworks
- Large-scale data processing technologies such as Hadoop or Cloudera
- Data quality, governance, validation, and performance tuning
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to meet client background clearance requirements
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
Helpful experience with technologies
- AWS services such as Glue, Athena, and Redshift
- Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Hive, or EMR
- Kafka or other streaming technologies
- PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
- Linux administration and scripting
- Agile development environments
- AI-assisted development tools
Compensation and location
- Location: Madison, WI (onsite)
- Salary: USD 100,000 - 140,000 per year
