Data Engineer

Data Engineering contract role improving the reliability, accessibility, and trustworthiness of enterprise data across systems and the data platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support to understand, stabilize, and enhance how data moves between operational systems, the enterprise data platform, reporting tools, and downstream consumers
• Trace data flows and lineage across the enterprise
• Strengthen ETL/ELT pipelines and integrations
• Implement automated data-quality controls to improve accuracy and consistency
• Improve monitoring, alerting, documentation, and failure recovery practices
• Work with existing integrations, legacy systems, undocumented dependencies, manual processes, and varying levels of data quality
• Make the environment more understandable and reliable while establishing sustainable engineering practices that support future modernization

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data integration, or related engineering work
• Strong SQL skills and experience with complex relational data
• Production experience with modern cloud data platforms; Snowflake experience strongly preferred
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with APIs, files, databases, batch integrations, and other enterprise integration patterns
• Experience implementing automated data-quality checks and reconciliation processes
• Experience with pipeline orchestration, monitoring, logging, and failure recovery
• Strong understanding of data modeling, transformation, and source-to-target mapping
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills
• Preferred: experience in retail, supply chain, inventory, merchandising, e-commerce, loyalty, or financial data environments

Compensation

• Target rate: $60 to $75 per hour
• Rate may vary based on experience

• On-site for the first 90 days, then hybrid with 2 days from home each week
