Data Engineer, Analytics
Job Description
Meta is hiring a Data Engineer, Analytics for a remote role supporting analytics across products like Instagram. This position combines technical leadership with hands-on ownership of the data foundation and analytics platform, with clear scope across architecture, governance, security/privacy, and data quality. You will also help accelerate cross-platform components by driving the vision and delivering end-to-end analytics systems that teams can rely on.
What you’ll do
- Drive the vision for the data foundation and analytics strategy, defining and executing a plan to build and improve cross-platform components across Instagram
- Conceptualize and own data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, evaluating design and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs
- Develop frameworks that improve the effectiveness of logging data, partnering with data infrastructure teams to triage issues and resolve them
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on them
- Define and manage SLAs for data sets within areas of ownership
- Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes
- Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations for use cases across products or domains
- Handle challenging data integration work using optimal ETL patterns and frameworks, along with effective query techniques for structured and unstructured sources
- Support ownership of production processes, optimizing complex code using advanced algorithmic concepts
- Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to make it easier to develop data artifacts
- Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities and drive impact
- Mentor team members through actionable feedback and shared learning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of experience in the data warehouse space
- 10+ years of experience in custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance
- 10+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages
- 10+ years of experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling
- 10+ years of experience authoring SQL statements
- Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies
- Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients

- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (example areas: prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Location: Remote
Compensation: USD 210,000 to 281,000 per year
