Job Description
The Data Engineer, Apple Ads Ad Platforms Data team role focuses on building high performance data storage and analytical data warehouse infrastructure that supports next generation analytics and customer experiences.
Role Summary
In this position, you will work across the data lifecycle, including data modeling, pipeline development, data delivery, and ongoing improvements. The work emphasizes performance, privacy, security, scalability, and reliability within the Apple Ads data platform environment. You will also partner with product and analytics teams to align data systems with specific business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the existing data model and infrastructure, identify gaps, and propose architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and support next generation analytics and reporting systems.
- Partner with product and analytics teams to understand their data system requirements.
- Automate and optimize data processing tasks by recognizing patterns and implementing solutions.
- Deliver solutions that maintain high performance, privacy, security, scalability, and reliability.
- Share knowledge and best practices to help partners effectively use the data warehouse platform.
- Work comfortably as part of a distributed team.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing and operating petabyte-scale data processing systems.
- Deep expertise in Apache Spark performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with both batch and real-time or streaming architectures, including Kafka and/or Flink.
- Experience building data platforms or processing frameworks reused across multiple teams or pipelines.
- Experience with AWS technologies, including S3 and Kubernetes/EKS or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Minimum 1+ years of Cloud Data Engineering experience, preferably with a background in computer science, mathematics, or another related quantitative field.
- Expertise building Cloud Data Warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or analogous architectures.
- Deep SQL expertise, including data modeling and dimensional modeling, plus experience with data governance.
- Experience applying data warehousing concepts, methodologies, and frameworks in practice.
- Experience with data processing tools and technologies such as Python, Spark, Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or DBT.
- Data platform thinking, with the ability to design and develop data pipelines considering security, scale, uptime, and reliability.
- Ability to communicate the benefits and constraints of technology solutions to technical partners, stakeholders, and team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Salary Information
The annual base pay range for this role is USD 129,300 to 194,700. Base pay depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
