Job Description

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Data Engineer Associate to help deliver reliable data warehouse and analytics capabilities across the health system. This onsite role in Chicago focuses on ingesting, integrating, and curating data, supporting analytics consumption, and administering the systems that keep reporting moving.

In this position, you will apply SQL and ETL/data pipeline skills to build and maintain data solutions, collaborate with the Architecture team, and support data models aligned to approved architecture standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver data warehouse and analytic solutions by ingesting, integrating, and curating data, building analytical solutions, and administering systems to provide information to the health system.
  • Use relational database skills, including SQL, to create queries and stored procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Architecture team on the design and execution of solutions.
  • Ensure new and existing data models and databases remain consistent with approved data architecture standards.
  • Create, document, and communicate the integration approach across all components of the solution.
  • Define key solutions and manage them for consumption by users and across teams.
  • Research and analyze business needs to determine capabilities and propose solution alternatives aligned to product and service strategies.
  • Assist with ETL design and development, including data analysis, source-to-target mapping, quality profiling, change data capture, and code performance.
  • Evaluate data quality and interpret results clearly and concisely.
  • Document programming changes, design decisions, and system modifications, including associated maintenance.

Requirements

  • 0 to 3+ years of experience in querying, analyzing data, and/or data modeling/architecture.
  • 0 to 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining ETL/data pipelines, such as Microsoft SSIS or Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience using SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of relational database skills, including the ability to create queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with report writing and data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Crystal Reports, SSRS, and similar tools.
  • 0 to 1 years of advanced proficiency in Python, with demonstrated experience developing data solutions using Python.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Location: Chicago, IL (onsite). Compensation: USD 40 to 56 per hour. Experience: 3 years minimum stated. Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
