Job Description

Data Engineer role supporting data and analytics delivery through pipelines, platforms, and data-serving frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Regions Technology teams to design, build, and maintain data structures and systems for Data and Analytics and Data Product use cases
  • Build data pipelines to collect, arrange, and store data within Regions’ big data environment
  • Develop robust, testable move, transform, and load (MTL) programs using big data tools such as Spark
  • Coordinate design and development with Data Products partners, Data Scientists, Data Management, Data Modelers, and other technical teams to construct strategic and tactical data stores
  • Ensure data is prepared and arranged for each defined business use case
  • Design and deploy frameworks and microservices to serve data assets to data consumers
  • Align with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate customer needs into data design requirements, supporting data quality and integrity for visualizations and data stories
  • Provide consultation across the organization for areas using data to make decisions
  • Support team members in developing information delivery and aid in automation of data products
  • Act as a trusted adviser to business leads by assisting in identifying business needs and data opportunities, understanding key performance drivers, interpreting business case drivers, and turning data into business value to guide data and analytics strategy
  • Ensure compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identify process improvement opportunities and apply disciplined change management

Requirements

  • Ph.D. plus 2 years of experience in a quantitative/analytical/STEM field, or
  • Master’s plus 4 years of experience in a quantitative/analytical/STEM field or a technical related field, or
  • Bachelor’s plus 6 years of experience in a quantitative/analytical/STEM field or a technical related field
  • 3 years working programming experience in Python / PySpark, Scala, and SQL
  • 3 years working experience in big data technology including Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or Kafka

Preferences

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance
  • Experience building data solutions at scale
  • Experience designing and building relational data structures across multiple environments
  • Experience with DevOps principles, CI/CD, and the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience with No-SQL databases
  • Experience with large-scale data lakehouses at enterprise scale
  • Proven record of delivering operational data solutions including Report and Model Ready Data Assets
  • Significant experience working with senior executives using data, reporting, and visualizations for strategic and operational decision-making
  • Strong ability to transform and integrate complex data from multiple sources into usable data assets and frameworks
  • Strong background synthesizing data and analytics in a large, complex, and highly regulated environment
  • Strong technical background including database and business intelligence skills
  • Strong communication skills through written and oral presentations

Position Details

  • Exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act; not eligible for overtime pay
  • Onsite role with regular work hours; full days in the office three or more days a week (now or in the near future)
  • No relocation assistance; relocation would be at your expense
  • Locations available for the role: Birmingham, AL; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC
  • No work visa sponsorship at this time; applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Compensation

  • Job Range Target: $115,002.20 USD (minimum)
  • Job Range Target: $146,401.50 USD (median)
  • Incentive Pay Plans: Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan
