Job Description

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Data Engineer II to join the Perfect Order Experience - Centralized Analytics and Data Engineering team in Seattle, onsite. This role centers on designing and building scalable analytical platforms and data pipelines that empower advanced analytics across large data sets, collaborating with Engineering and Science teams to apply statistical methods, prediction, clustering, and machine learning. The position offers a salary range of USD 132,100 to 178,800 per year and requires a solid foundation in SQL and data engineering with a quantitative/technical degree.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, construct, and maintain an analytics platform that provides access to large-scale datasets and sufficient compute power.
  • Create and operate data clusters that deliver access and insights aligned with business needs.
  • Develop and sustain data pipelines to move relevant data to the appropriate destinations.
  • Apply data modeling best practices to design robust data structures.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Science teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that leverage rich data for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering, and machine learning.
  • Promote and apply best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Build reliable and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines.
  • Create and evangelize data handling best practices across the organization.
  • Work with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of sources.
  • Continuously improve reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of SQL experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
  • Experience with data warehouse architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools, data structures, and hands-on SQL coding.
  • Knowledge of databases, storage concepts, and big data concepts.
  • Experience building and operating highly available, distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, or statistics.
  • Demonstrable advanced SQL skills with large data sets (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift).
