Data Engineer II

Amazon Security offers a collaborative, security‑focused data environment with a global footprint. The Data Engineer II role sits at the heart of Veritas, a foundational service that provides data for security reviews, threat modeling, and incident response. You will build scalable data infrastructure and high‑quality pipelines inside a large data lake that leverages AWS data services and AI enabled data objects. This onsite, Seattle position comes with a competitive annual salary between USD 132,100 and 178,800, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to contribute to security initiatives across more than ten countries within the AmSec organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and influence the team’s data strategy and storage roadmap through close collaboration with partners
• Lead designs for data governance, define data schemas, and build tools that enable efficient data sharing with customers while meeting strict confidentiality guidelines
• Improve data quality and operations through automation and end-to-end CI/CD data pipelines
• Adopt best practices in data integrity, modeling, testing, validation, and documentation
• Construct end-to-end data pipelines to ingest and transform data from diverse sources and systems
• Leverage AI and LLM capabilities to automate manual and repetitive data engineering tasks
• Evaluate and implement big data technologies (such as Redshift, Iceberg, Hive/EMR, Spark, SNS, SQS) to optimize processing of very large datasets
• Analyze business processes, logical data models, and relational database implementations
• Write high‑performing, optimized SQL queries

Requirements

• 4+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• 4+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, or similar technologies
• Working knowledge of professional software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, architecture, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence
