Job Description

On site in Melbourne, Florida, this role sits within ENSCO's Machine Learning Data team, dedicated to seismic and acoustics workflows and the handling of acoustic sensor data. The Data Engineer III combines data engineering, data science, and machine learning to manage time-series acoustic data across ingestion, processing, storage, labeling, and analysis, enabling applications in ML, signal processing, monitoring, and operational analytics.

Responsibilities

  • This role blends data engineering, data science, and machine learning with a clear focus on acoustic sensor data.
  • Supports ingestion, processing, storage, labeling, and analysis of time-series acoustic data to support machine learning, signal processing, monitoring, and operational analytics applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or scientific data systems
  • Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with SQL and relational/non-relational databases
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Dask, Ray, etc.)
  • Understanding of time-series data architectures and streaming pipelines
  • Experience using version control and CI/CD practices (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience handling high-volume sensor, waveform, or acoustic datasets
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing concepts including FFTs, spectrograms, filtering, sampling theory, feature extraction
  • Experience managing metadata and annotation workflows for sensor datasets
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance, for which you must be a US Citizen
