Data Engineer III - Click Stream Data Products

Expedia’s Clickstream Data Products team is hiring a Data Engineer III to design and scale platforms that capture and deliver traveler interaction signals through reliable, governed data services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and services that support business and product outcomes across multiple domains.
• Apply strong data engineering skills across system design, low-level design, API design, data modeling, and scalable data processing.
• Develop, test, deploy, and operate production-quality data solutions with focus on reliability, performance, maintainability, and security.
• Partner with engineers, product partners, analysts, and domain experts to turn complex requirements into effective data products and technical solutions.
• Use data-driven analysis to improve pipeline performance, data quality, and operational visibility for supported services and domains.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions to improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines, services, or platforms with ownership across multiple services or a defined technical domain.
• Proficiency in data modeling, data processing, software development fundamentals, API design, and system design including low-level design.
• Experience creating maintainable, testable, and reliable solutions, with understanding of observability, incident response, performance, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and evolving scalable data architectures across multiple services or within a broad technical domain.
• Ability to improve system reliability, data quality, performance, and operational efficiency using measurable, data-driven outcomes.
• Experience leading technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture in a multi-service or domain-level scope.
• Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled data products, model-serving or data workflows, and safely applying AI/ML concepts to improve real-world product outcomes.
• Experience delivering flexible data engineering solutions across multiple domains while balancing maintainability, scalability, security, and customer impact.

Compensation

• USD 146,000 - 233,500 per year
