Deputy Chief Engineer

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to support Strategic Weapons Control in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. In this on-site role, you will guide cross-functional engineering teams working with currently fielded tactical and auxiliary strategic deterrent systems, while also contributing to road mapping and design trade spaces for modernization efforts.

Role Overview

As Deputy Chief Engineer for Strategic Weapons Control, you will help support engineering activities that span fielded system sustainment, modernization planning for a new tactical platform, and participation in exercises that build depth across key technical areas. The position also includes portfolio and customer-facing support, including integration team tasks and leadership forums.

Responsibilities

• Guide cross-functional teams responsible for supporting currently fielded tactical systems (Ohio/Vanguard) and auxiliary systems supporting the nation’s strategic deterrent
• Participate in systems road mapping and design trade spaces for modernizing and fielding a new tactical platform (Columbia/Dreadnought) with more flexible and adaptable capabilities, plus enhanced support and auxiliary systems
• Participate in and support exercises to develop Strategic Weapons Control and engineering knowledge, including software functional decompositions
• Participate in and support exercises to develop Strategic Weapons Control and engineering knowledge, including Shore Facility CONOPS and design options
• Participate in and support exercises to develop Strategic Weapons Control and engineering knowledge, including auxiliary systems road mapping and design
• Support portfolio and customer-facing efforts, including Select Integrator Team tasks in support of the Integration Team
• Support portfolio and customer-facing efforts such as select opportunities for generating and presenting materials for leadership forums and decision-making
• Attend selected leadership forums, including internal and customer-driven events, to build relationships and confidence
• Lead the systems development life cycle with strong proficiency in requirements management and system modeling tools
• Provide technical leadership and position others for success
• Apply technical standards and methodologies to develop solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time
• Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• U.S. citizenship is required

Compensation

USD 118,519 - 131,482 per year (combined salary range: USD $118,519.00 - USD $131,482.00 /Yr.).
