Job Description

Build a software-defined command and control layer on Anduril’s Strategic Defense team, working across C2, networking, autonomy, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Own software solutions deployed to customers at the edge of innovation and operational necessity
  • Write code to strengthen robust C2 products and scale mission capabilities
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to plan, build, and test functionality for complex systems
  • Work with end-users to translate needs into features quickly while balancing user experience and engineering constraints
  • Travel 10 - 30% with the team to build, test, and deploy capabilities in real-world environments

Requirements

  • 3-8+ years writing production software in languages such as C++, Rust, Go, or Python, used by real users or systems
  • Experience owning a feature or service end-to-end: design, implementation, deployment, and support when it breaks
  • Proven ability to debug issues in code you did not write and systems you did not design
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-software stakeholders (operators, hardware engineers, customers)
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Technologies

  • C++
  • Rust
  • Go
  • Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in critical software with real-world impact
  • Exposure to robotics, distributed systems, networking, or real-time systems
  • Experience with mid and upper tier Air Defense Command and Control (C2) programs
  • Experience where software interfaces with physical hardware
  • Experience building solutions that involve significant data processing and analysis
  • Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Math, or Physics
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to Asia Pacific

About the Team

  • Strategic Defense protects the United States and its allies from ballistic, hypersonic, and air-breathing threats
  • Threats arrive in seconds, maneuver mid-flight, and operate in volleys designed to overwhelm legacy systems
  • Team builds a software-defined command and control layer that can see, decide, and act faster than a human operator alone
  • Work spans autonomy, tracking, simulation and wargaming, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation for an accredited fire control system fielded rapidly and at scale
  • Focus includes incubating and maturing AI-native offerings for the integrated air and missile defense domain

About the Job

  • Role targets experienced coders with 3+ years of experience
  • Application includes live coding interviews
  • No requirement for active clearance at the time of application, but eligibility is required
  • Code side-by-side with experienced peers to address networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, and more
  • Make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs in ambiguous situations where outcomes matter beyond typical corporate goals
  • Partner with teams across AI, Edge Hardware, Space Solutions, Networking, and Test Engineering to build end-to-end systems

Location

  • Reston, VA (onsite)

Compensation

  • USD 166,000 - 220,000 per year

Benefits

  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees
  • Support for health and recovery
