Job Description

Saronic Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer to help design, test, and implement electrical systems and components for autonomous vessels. The role works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver electrical solutions that improve both product reliability and manufacturability, from early prototyping through production.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key partner across core electrical design engineering and manufacturing teams throughout product development and production to improve function and reliability through best practices and repeatable process control.
  • Support new product development by prototyping early development hardware to identify design limitations.
  • Drive design for manufacturability changes that improve production efficiency.
  • Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies in coordination with the quality team, addressing issues across design, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Participate in internal design reviews as well as reviews with suppliers and customers.
  • Partner with engineering and production teams to generate ideas, designs, and improvements for current and next-generation vessels.
  • Source, retain, and provide technical guidance for new and experienced vendors.
  • Investigate complex technical problems using both deep-detail analysis and system-level prioritization across the vessel.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk and remove complexity in designs and processes, collaborating with integrated product teams to address high-impact and recurring non-conformances.
  • Challenge requirements to distinguish value-add work from non-value-added overhead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical engineering principles, including design integration into complex systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Additional qualifications that are a plus include experience with wire harnessing, radios, transmissions, and system integration, as well as designing electrical systems for complex projects in automotive, maritime, or defense. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electrical systems such as IEEE, IEC, and ABS is also beneficial. Familiarity with programming languages and software development practices is a plus.
