Electrical Engineer (Data Center)

System One is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Data Center) for a 6 month contract based onsite in Overland Park, KS. This role supports the design and delivery of large-scale data center environments, combining technical depth with leadership through design studies, drawing reviews, field survey work, and mentoring for early career engineers.

What you’ll do

• Lead efforts to deliver detailed electrical design for large-scale data center environments while adhering to company, client, and project design standards.
• Partner with engineering project teams and field personnel to complete and review work against scope, budget, and schedule.
• Integrate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into physical design and layouts.
• Provide insight into design risk factors related to redundancy and resiliency.
• Perform and/or lead field surveys, gather drawings and other data, and develop summary reports to assess existing facility conditions.
• Prepare and review technical drawings to ensure installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
• Review drawing and modeling production work, including problem analysis, and provide guidance to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
• Compile engineering data to create engineering studies and reports.
• Perform detailed calculations as required by the project.
• Mentor and supervise junior-level engineers and designers, and provide training for other technical personnel.
• Coordinate with internal and external clients to determine project requirements.
• Support business development by developing scope-of-work, level-of-effort, and conducting site visits to understand pursuit scope.
• Demonstrate leadership with a focus on training and developing early career and/or inexperienced professionals, including an ability to function in multiple job roles simultaneously.

What you bring

• Minimum 11 years of related work experience.

• Skilled in delegating, leading teams, and managing project schedules, budgets, and staffing.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data and challenge current assumptions.
• High attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Understanding and application of engineering design principles and standards.
• Professional registration or licensure in engineering, or actively pursuing it.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation: $70.00 to $76.00 per hour.
