Engineer – Facilities Engineer III (Licensed Professional Engineer)

Build and sustain critical water infrastructure in an in-person role supporting evaluation, planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations for Kern County Water Agency facilities. This full-time position is aligned with long-term engineering impact across water pumping, conveyance, purification, and groundwater recovery.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering activities related to the evaluation, planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of Kern County Water Agency water pumping, conveyance and purification, and groundwater recovery facilities.

Requirements

• Valid registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California (Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Four years of increasing responsibility performing engineering activities related to the evaluation, planning, design, scheduling, bidding, and construction of groundwater recovery, water conveyance, pumping, distribution and/or treatment facilities.
• Complete a Kern County Water Agency application.

Compensation

USD 131,539 - 159,910 per year

Please note that an additional 3% salary adjustment will be provided on January 9, 2027 per the General Bargaining Unit Memorandum of Understanding.
