Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT, formerly Clark Nexsen) invites applications for an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) in Virginia Beach, VA. This hybrid role supports the design, analysis, equipment selection, and system layout of electrical systems for multi-discipline building projects across commercial, higher education, and government facilities. You will collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to translate requirements into effective electrical solutions.

Responsibilities
- Work with, respond to, and take direction from Senior Engineers, Project Managers, Managing Principals, Department Directors, and senior management
- Perform various aspects of Electrical Engineering design, including conceptual studies, program requirements, design analysis, calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout for building design, upgrades, and retrofits
- Operate within a multi-discipline design team supervised by senior engineers and project managers on projects of medium to large scope; coordinate and communicate with other engineers and design team members
- Meet with clients as directed
- Comply with the firm’s quality control policies and procedures
- Learn and implement department and company standards
- Prepare project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
- Provide electrical support during bidding, including preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFIs
- Provide electrical construction phase services, including representing the firm on-site, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings

- Graduated from an ABET-accredited 4- or 5-year engineering program in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), Electrical Engineering Technology, or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)
- Earned the designation of EI or EIT in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction
- Pursuing Professional Engineer licensure (PE) within 12 months of eligibility
