Job Description

Join National Grid in Downstate New York for a hybrid role supporting the gas distribution network. In this position within the NY Gas Distribution Engineering team in Brightwaters, you will help drive engineering and design work through construction oversight, with a clear career path to advance across bands as you build technical depth and experience. The role includes a salary range of $115,000 to $135,000 per year.

What you’ll do

As an Engineer, Gas Planning and Design Engineering, you will be responsible for the engineering, design, and technical oversight during construction projects for the gas distribution network.

  • Develop designs for gas main replacement projects supporting the distribution network
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects to deliver on schedule and within budget
  • Communicate project information effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Carry out role functions in alignment with corporate process safety procedures
  • Identify and specify materials associated with gas construction projects
  • Determine and obtain required permits, licenses, and land rights for assigned projects
  • Negotiate and manage commercial contracts with third parties and suppliers

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university (required)
  • 2+ years of engineering or project management experience (required)
  • EIT certification is preferred, via successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
