Engineer or Principal Engineer Electrical - Power Systems Design

The Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer role supports multiple areas of aircraft subsystem development, with a focus on electrical power generation and distribution, electrical design and analysis, requirements development, lab testing, data post processing, and issue troubleshooting.

Compensation

USD 79,300 - 147,600 per year

• Primary level salary range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
• Secondary level salary range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical wiring designs for a functional system, including selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components (connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems, and related items) in accordance with AS 50881 and proven commercial practices.
• Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion, and distribution systems, including circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems, such as Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power deliverables.
• Become familiar with MIL-STD-704.
• Own system/component design and development activities including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test and verification, and troubleshooting.
• May support subcontractor management and serve as a technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
• Contribute to system-level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
• The position may be filled as either Electrical Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3) based on the qualifications below.

Requirements

• Electrical Engineer (Level 2): Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s Degree in STEM with no years of experience.
• Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.
• Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance (clearance not required to start employment).
• Ability to obtain any Program Special access required within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
• Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
• Architecture Design Experience, Aircraft Electrical Power (EPS) Experience, Aircraft Hardware Procurement Knowledge, and EPS Integration Knowledge.
