Forward Deployed AI Engineer

The Forward Deployed AI Engineer will build and deploy data-driven solutions using Python and TypeScript in Palantir Foundry, supporting analytics use cases from initial concept through deployment at Nebraska Medicine.

Role Summary

This position is hands-on and delivery-focused. The Forward Deployed AI Engineer will work with stakeholders to understand problems, translate ideas into practical solutions, and integrate AI and analytics into real-world applications that create meaningful value for patients, clinicians, and healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Use Python and TypeScript within Palantir Foundry to build and deploy data-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges across Nebraska Medicine.
• Develop and manage data workflows and support end-to-end analytics application development.
• Analyze complex datasets and work with large datasets in support of analytics and AI solutions.
• Integrate AI and analytics into applications designed to deliver value for patients, clinicians, and healthcare operations.
• Execute analytics use cases from concept through deployment, supporting start-to-finish delivery of analytics applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand problems, convert concepts into scalable solutions, and continuously improve what is delivered.

Required Qualifications

• Candidate must live in Nebraska or Iowa.
• Hybrid role requires ability to work on campus.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in software development, data engineering, or analytics roles.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, and TypeScript for building analytics applications and managing large datasets.
• Proven ability to translate broad business concepts into effective and scalable data solutions.
• Experience developing data models and performing data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver impactful results in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with designing scalable and efficient analytics frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with analytics platforms and tools, including performance optimization and data visualization tools.
• AI and LLM aptitude: curiosity and foundational understanding of AI concepts, including Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP), with willingness to apply and deepen knowledge.
• Experience collaborating with senior leadership, IT, and business stakeholders to address strategic challenges.
• Familiarity with AI and data science platforms such as Palantir, Dataiku, DataRobot, or similar platforms for developing and deploying data-driven solutions.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools for turning complex insights into actionable, user-friendly visuals.
• Certification in Palantir AI platform (or ability to obtain it within the first year of employment).
