Job Description

The HVAC Project Engineer will provide technical and administrative support to project management and field operations teams delivering HVAC, mechanical, and piping construction work. The position focuses on project documentation, coordination, scheduling support, procurement and cost tracking, and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with administration and execution of mechanical construction projects.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications.
  • Process and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and related project correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate project files and records across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with project closeout, including punch lists and turnover documentation.
  • Help develop and maintain project schedules and look-ahead plans.
  • Coordinate with field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to support timely execution.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates to project teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and document meeting minutes and action items.
  • Support procurement activities and material tracking to help maintain project schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking activities.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor documentation.
  • Track labor productivity and project expenditures.
  • Support change order pricing and documentation.
  • Help identify and communicate potential cost or schedule impacts.
  • Review project drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with interpreting plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and field teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support quality control efforts to help ensure work meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
  • Prior experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, or piping projects (preferred).
  • Internship or entry-level construction experience is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation and project processes (preferred).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Procore or Bluebeam, or similar construction management software (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary: USD 60,000 to 80,000.

  • May require visits to active construction sites, rooftops, and mechanical spaces.
