Job Description

GLC Business Services is seeking an HVAC Project Engineer to support mechanical construction projects for field operations and project management. Based in Buffalo, NY, this onsite role combines office administration with active construction site coordination across HVAC, mechanical, and piping work.

The HVAC Project Engineer plays a key part in keeping documentation, schedules, procurement, and cost tracking organized so project teams can execute efficiently from early planning through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with administration and execution of mechanical construction projects.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications.
  • Process and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate project files and records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with project closeout, including punch lists and turnover documentation.
  • Help develop and maintain project schedules and look-ahead plans.
  • Coordinate with field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to support timely execution.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates to project teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and document meeting minutes and action items.
  • Support procurement and material tracking to help maintain project schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor documentation.
  • Track labor productivity and project expenditures.
  • Support change order pricing and documentation.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost or schedule impacts.
  • Review project drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with interpreting plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and field teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support quality control efforts to help ensure work meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management (preferred) or a related field.
  • Prior experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, or piping projects (preferred).
  • Internship or entry-level construction experience is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation and project processes (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.

Compensation

USD 60,000 - 80,000 per year.
