I&C Engineer, Design (NPG) B

The I&C Engineer, Design (NPG) B at TVA is responsible for planning and coordinating instrumentation and controls engineering work on major to moderately scoped projects, including procurement, field engineering, and potential supervisory responsibilities. The role is based onsite in Spring City, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of instrumentation and controls engineering within a segment of a large project or the full scope of a moderate project.
• Performs conventional I&C engineering tasks while addressing complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable materials, and challenging coordination needs.
• Requires broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty and familiarity with related practices.
• As a fully competent I&C engineer, plans and conducts work that involves independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques and criteria.
• Devises innovative approaches to problems encountered during projects.
• Possesses sufficient professional experience to function as a fully trained practitioner.
• Provides procurement and field engineering support, including walk downs, modifications/maintenance, and testing.
• May supervise or coordinate multidiscipline engineers, CAD Technicians, and other assistants on specific assignments.
• Performs most assignments independently, with guidance on unusual problems and upon approval of proposed project plans by the principal engineer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited program, with ongoing continuing education.
• Licensed Professional Engineer is desirable.
• Membership in professional and technical societies is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3/S-4 medical qualifications when applicable.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotational assignments, which may require 24/7 availability.
• Willingness and medical ability to work rotating shifts and maximum overtime as permitted by TVA procedures during peak periods.
• Willingness to travel to plant locations as required and to be temporarily assigned to field locations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in electrical engineering as evidenced by completion of the Engineering Graduate Progression Plan or an equivalent post-graduate education and experience.
