Information Systems Security Engineer

The Information Systems Security Engineer will support DoD and military clients by integrating security requirements into system architecture, design, development, and configuration, while maintaining an effective security posture to achieve Interim Authority to Operate (IATO) and Authority to Operate (ATO).

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate security requirements into the system through purposeful security architecture, design, development, and configuration.
• Coordinate changes or modifications with the appropriate Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
• Implement and enforce DoD cybersecurity policies and procedures as defined by cybersecurity-related documentation.
• Document, monitor, update, and manage system security activities to maintain an acceptable security posture and support IATO and ATO.
• Support DoD and military clients in developing cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions, including technical implementations and RMF activities, and analyzing relevant policies.
• Contribute to solutions for complex problems involving hybrid systems from a cybersecurity perspective.
• Operate with minimal supervision within established procedures and practices.
• Secure and protect critical AI / ML networks supporting vital client missions and operations.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience guiding a client through the full Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
• Experience as an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE), Information System Security Officer (ISSO), or in a role within Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or IT Service Management.
• Experience conducting enterprise vulnerability scanning using security tools such as ACAS, performing risk remediation, conducting security control assessments, and integrating security principles for compliance with DoD directives and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Experience with system certification, accreditation, assessment, and authorization, including IATT and ATOs.
• Experience engineering, implementing, and hardening security solutions including firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS / IPS), and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to defend against emerging threats.
• Knowledge of systems and software engineering management processes as applied to DoD acquisition processes across all life cycle phases.
• Knowledge of DoD communication, cybersecurity, and IT systems.
• Top Secret clearance.
• Education and experience alignment: Associate's degree (or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
• DoD 8140 IAT Level II Certification.

• Ability to research emerging technology and apply it to cutting-edge problems.
• Excellent presentation and collaboration skills.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity.
• CISSP-ISSEP, CCSP, or CISM Certification.

Clearance and Investigation

Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top Secret clearance is required.

Work Model

Onsite: Work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, where employees will collaborate directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.

Compensation

USD 99,000 - 225,000 per yearly.
