Information Technology Analyst IV (Cloud Data Engineer)
Job Description
Solano County Department of Information Technology seeks an Information Technology Analyst IV, Cloud Data Engineer, to lead the design and upkeep of major data systems, deliver advanced technical support to users, and guide cross-functional teams across software development, networks and systems, service desk, security, and database platforms. This onsite role is based in Fairfield, California.
Responsibilities
- Act as team lead and project manager for designated major systems.
- Provide advanced technical support to system users.
- Provide lead direction to software development, network and systems administration, service desk, security and database teams, other Information Technology Analysts, and/or consultants on system design or infrastructure and maintenance projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern data warehouse technologies, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Kimball data modeling with facts and dimensions, and data engineering practices such as Medallion Architecture.
- Strong ETL development skills using SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and R.
- Significant experience with Power BI, DevOps, Purview, and Dynamics CRM is highly desirable.
- Preferred certifications include Azure Data Fundamentals, Azure AI Associate, Azure Data Engineer or Azure Solution Architect, DAMA CDMP, and Power BI Data Analyst.

The Position
This role is the fourth classification tier within the Information Technology Analyst series. Individuals in this grade apply highly specialized technical analysis skills while serving as team leader or project manager for major systems. They perform the most demanding duties, including providing advanced technical support to system users, and they lead aspects of software development, network and systems administration, service desk, security and database efforts, or consultants on assigned designs or infrastructure projects.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate possesses advanced knowledge of modern data warehousing technologies such as Azure Data Lake and Azure Synapse, along with Kimball data modeling of facts and dimensions and Medallion Architecture. They are adept at ETL development with SSIS and Azure Data Factory, and skilled in SQL, Python, and R. Strong experience with Power BI, DevOps, Purview, and Dynamics CRM is highly desirable. Preferred certifications include Azure Data Fundamentals, Azure AI Associate, Azure Data Engineer or Azure Solution Architect, DAMA CDMP, and Power BI Data Analyst.
Selection Process
