Infrastructure Software Engineer (AI Enablement)
Job Description
Join a team that ships: this onsite role in the United States is built for engineers who want ownership across agent infrastructure and orchestration, ML infrastructure, and benchmarking at scale, with a clear focus on improving how engineering teams build and operate AI systems.
Strong impact with a supportive culture matters here. You will help deliver tools and systems that improve developer experience and ops, including approaches that trade off LLM tokens to get human time back.
Compensation and benefits include a base salary of USD 170,000 - 250,000 per year, performance bonus, great equity, and unlimited PTO. Every lunch and dinner is paid for, and the company covers 100% premium for Cigna’s platinum health plan for you (including $0 premium and $0 deductible), plus 50% premium coverage for dependents. Top-tier Guardian dental and vision are covered at 100%. There is also a 401(k) plan and company-sponsored professional development.
What you’ll work on
- Build and improve agent infrastructure and orchestration, ML infrastructure, and model benchmarking at scale.
- Contribute to full stack web development and overall developer and user experience.
- Work on process optimization across infrastructure and delivery, focusing on systems that increase productivity.
Infrastructure challenges span container orchestration, sandboxing, distributed filesystems, cloud architecture, and database systems.
Your primary area of ownership is developer experience and ops. This is expected to take up less than 50% of engineering time initially, while still being an area of passion and focus. The role is designed for an overall engineer who improves productivity for others through practical tools and systems.
Responsibilities
- Address infrastructure and execution problems across agent orchestration, ML infrastructure, benchmarking, and web experience.
- Own improvements that make teams faster, especially approaches that trade off LLM tokens to return time to people.
- Deliver operational and developer workflow enhancements in the developer experience and ops space.
- Partner across science, partnerships, ops, and engineering to ship work that is on time or early.
What you bring
- AI-native engineering: using AI coding agents daily and building tooling, workflows, or integrations that improve effectiveness for the whole team.
- Strong production software engineering with 3+ years writing in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Ability to get productive in an unfamiliar codebase quickly.
- Developer tools builder: built internal tools or developer experience improvements adopted by other engineers.
- DevOps fluency with hands-on experience in CI/CD, AWS or GCP, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code.
- You do not need to be a career SRE, but you can own the pipeline.
- Teacher and evangelist: share better ways of working through demos, docs, and pairing rather than mandates.
Technologies
- Python, Go, TypeScript
- CI/CD
- AWS, GCP
- Docker
- Infrastructure-as-code
How it works
- This role is based in the San Francisco office and you will work closely with science, partnerships, ops, and engineering.
- There are two key meetings each week, plus ad hoc meetings as needed.
- The work is busy, with a flexible schedule.
- No online tracking; unlimited PTO.
- Focus is on shipping projects well and on time, or early.
Team and culture
Radical transparency is a core value, so you’ll know how the company is doing and what is working or not. The approach is “us against the problem,” and the team is opinionated but respectful, bringing solutions along with issues.
Meetings are kept to a minimum, and performance is judged on innovation and output, not hours. Outside of work, there are company outings most months, team off-sites, latch run club, cycling, boxing, ice skating, and playing soccer together.
You may work with founders Alfredo, Kyle, Kenny, Chief Product Officer Hannah, Operations team members Jordan, Daniel, Saul, Andy, Charles, Jesse, Camila, MTS team members Zhen, Harmon, Chris, Dillon, Martin, Ramesh, Ian, Evan, John, and scientists across Latch.
