JavaScriptCore Security Engineer

Apple is seeking a JavaScriptCore Security Engineer to strengthen the security and stability of the JavaScriptCore virtual machine. This role focuses on improving protections across the engine through proactive secure feature development and hands-on response to the unique security challenges that arise in JavaScriptCore.

Working onsite in Cupertino, CA, you will collaborate across the codebase to help drive security architecture improvements, address vulnerabilities, and incorporate current best practices into security processes for a more secure web across Apple products.

What you’ll do

• Work across all areas of the JavaScriptCore engine, with an emphasis on improving security and stability.
• Drive new innovations in the security architecture of the codebase.
• Fix security issues and respond to fuzzing findings.
• Ensure JavaScriptCore security processes are updated to current best practices and positioned for a secure future.
• Support a more secure web for all Apple products both proactively, by ensuring new features are implemented securely, and reactively, by addressing JavaScriptCore’s specific security challenges.

What you bring

• BS in computer science or equivalent
• Experience programming in modern C++
• Excellent debugging, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Experience developing privacy and security-sensitive software
• Experience with compilers, parsers, and interpreters
• Experience with assembly-level programming

Technologies you’ll work with

• JavaScriptCore, JavaScript, WebAssembly
• C++, VMs with just-in-time compilers, JavaScript engines
• JVM, fuzzing
• Assembly-level programming, garbage collectors, memory allocators

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on experience with VMs with just-in-time compilers (e.g., JavaScript engines and JVMs)
• Experience with web browsers
• Experience with memory allocators and garbage collectors
• Experience with fuzzing, security architecture, and memory safety
• Knowledge of JavaScript and WebAssembly

Compensation & benefits

Salary: USD 150,400 - 277,600 per yearly.
