Job Description
Staffactory is hiring a Junior Cybersecurity Automation Engineer for an onsite contract role in Long Beach, CA. This build-and-learn seat supports the creation of agent-driven triage and response automation under Senior Cybersecurity Engineers, with a clear focus on implementing, integrating, and improving automation workflows across the security stack.
In this role, you will help turn detection content into consistent triage and response actions, connect automation to core security tooling, and support production readiness by monitoring automation performance over time. The work is designed to be collaborative, with close alignment to Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automation is applied.
Responsibilities
- Support the build-out of agent-driven triage and response automation under direction from Senior Security Engineers.
- Implement, test, and iterate on automation workflows and playbooks that convert detection content into reliable triage and response actions.
- Write and maintain integration code that connects automation workflows to the security stack, including SIEM, EDR, and related tooling.
- Help instrument and monitor automation performance in production, including catching false positives, missed cases, and brittle logic before they become operational issues.
- Document workflow logic, decision points, and known limitations clearly so senior engineers and analysts can reason about what automation is doing.
- Work alongside Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automating them.
Requirements
- Genuine interest in security operations, with the role positioned as an entry level engineer build-and-learn opportunity.
- Ability to work effectively under senior technical direction (not a solo position).
- Clear written communication.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and comfort writing and debugging production code, ideally using Python or Go/Golang (or another scripting-friendly language).
