Junior Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
Computer Aid, Inc. is hiring a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to support the build-out of agent-driven triage and response automation. In this 12-month+ onsite contract role in Long Beach, CA, you will work under the direction of Senior Cybersecurity Engineer(s) while helping turn detection content into consistent, operational triage actions.
Salary range is USD 60–70 per hour, and the position is located onsite in Long Beach, CA.
What you’ll do
- Support the development of agent-driven triage and response automation under the direction of Senior Security Engineers
- Implement, test, and iterate on automation workflows and playbooks that convert detection content into triage and response actions
- Write and maintain integration code that connects automation workflows to the security stack, including SIEM, EDR, and related tooling used by Engineering
- Help instrument and monitor automation performance in production, including catching false positives, missed cases, and brittle logic before operational issues occur
- Document workflow logic, decision points, and known limitations so senior engineers and analysts can understand what the automation is doing
- Collaborate with Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automating them
What you bring
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, with comfort writing and debugging production code, ideally in Python or Go or a similar scripting-friendly language
- Comfort working with APIs, workflow and automation frameworks, and integrating disparate systems
- Some exposure to SOC concepts, log and alert data, or coursework/projects related to security operations
- Entry-level mindset with genuine interest in security operations and a desire to build in that area
- Ability to work well under senior technical direction, focused on build-and-learn rather than solo execution
