Job Description

Kafka Data Engineer role at Booz Allen Hamilton, onsite at Ford Island, HI, focused on designing, deploying, and upgrading Kafka clusters in AWS and Kubernetes, leveraging Kafka Schema Registry and Kafka Security Manager, with mentorship responsibilities to help teams build scalable data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy Kafka clusters in cloud environments, incorporating Kafka Schema Registry and Kafka Security Manager.
  • Upgrade and maintain Kafka clusters running in Kubernetes on AWS to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Mentor data engineers, developers, and data consumers within a fast moving, agile setting.
  • Lead the assessment, design, construction, and upkeep of scalable platforms for client needs.

Requirements

  • Experience with Kafka
  • Experience creating data partitioning strategies and monitoring topics for performance
  • Experience deploying and upgrading Kafka clusters in high availability containerized environments
  • Experience using observability platforms such as Elastic or Datadog to configure monitoring for data pipelines to ensure high availability and throughput, low latency, and alerting
  • Knowledge of stream processing pipelines and analytics
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Compensation

Compensation: USD 77,600.00 to 176,000.00 per year

Security Clearance

Secret clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Work Model

Onsite work may be required at Booz Allen or customer facilities. Remote or hybrid arrangements are possible depending on role requirements and leadership expectations; frequent work from Booz Allen facilities may also be needed, with potential visits to customer sites.

Identity Verification

As part of the hiring process, Booz Allen will conduct identity verification using advanced biometrics and artificial intelligence to ensure authenticity and protect against identity fraud. Candidates are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments, and Booz Allen may take photos to verify identity.
