Lead Data Engineer

Deloitte is seeking a Lead Data Engineer focused on Databricks to design, build, and deliver modern data and analytics solutions for client engagements. This role supports initiatives that modernize data environments and enable analytics, reporting, and decision-making through scalable platform capabilities.

You will lead teams across requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, and deployment, translating business and technical needs into reliable data pipelines and data models. The position also includes advising stakeholders on architecture and delivery approaches, while monitoring solution quality and delivery progress.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and delivery of Databricks-based data and analytics solutions for client engagements
• Manage project teams and workstreams across requirements, solution design, development, testing, and deployment
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable data pipelines, data models, and platform capabilities
• Advise client stakeholders on architecture, implementation approaches, and operating model considerations for modern data platforms
• Oversee solution quality, issue resolution, and delivery progress while supporting project economics and timeline management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 6+ years of experience delivering data engineering, analytics, or cloud data platform solutions
• 3+ years of experience with Databricks and Apache Spark
• 3+ years of experience with Python and Structured Query Language (SQL)
• 2+ years of experience leading project teams or workstreams
• Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on work and client and industry needs
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

• Experience with data governance, data quality, or platform security controls
• Experience supporting client presentations, proposals, or solution demonstrations

Location and compensation

• Location: Rosslyn, VA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 134,500 - 265,100 per year
