Job Description

Oracle is building complex hyperscale data center capacity in Michigan, and this role serves as a senior technical authority for physical security systems across the full project lifecycle. As a Lead Principal Physical Security Systems Engineer, you will guide design and delivery through construction, commissioning, and readiness for operational use against OCI standards.

Role Overview

You will lead reviews of security designs and installation details, coordinate with integrators and contractors, and ensure access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems are properly integrated with site networks and monitoring processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review security designs, drawings, specifications, submittals, and installation details.
  • Identify design gaps, integration risks, and operational concerns, then guide teams toward practical solutions.
  • Oversee security integrators and contractors through installation, configuration, testing, and turnover.
  • Monitor scope, schedule, quality, vendor performance, and change orders.
  • Coordinate access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, badging, and perimeter security systems with site networks, monitoring platforms, and operational processes.
  • Review inspection records, test plans, device schedules, configurations, and closeout documents.
  • Participate in field inspections and functional testing, and track deficiencies through resolution.
  • Confirm systems are tested, documented, and ready for acceptance by OCI security and operations teams.
  • Communicate readiness, open risks, and decisions needed to project leadership.
  • Help improve design standards, installation practices, testing procedures, and turnover requirements across projects.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing, delivering, or managing physical security systems in data centers, mission-critical facilities, large campuses, or similarly secure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercoms, perimeter security, and security monitoring platforms.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, submittals, device schedules, and commissioning documentation.
  • Understanding of low-voltage construction, structured cabling, device installation, labeling, testing, and system integration.
  • Proven ability to manage integrators, contractors, and vendors while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to identify technical, quality, and schedule risks and communicate clearly with field teams and leadership.
  • Experience reviewing vendor scope, change orders, pricing, and schedule impacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, information technology, security management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to travel as needed for project delivery and site reviews.

Location and Work Setup

This is a full-time role located onsite at Oracle’s new hyperscale facility in Saline Township, Michigan.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering physical security systems for hyperscale data centers, cloud infrastructure, or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with large campuses, high-density data halls, or projects with phased construction and operational handovers.
  • Familiarity with enterprise access control, video management, intrusion detection, badging, visitor management, and security operations platforms.
  • Experience integrating security systems with networks, building systems, life safety systems, and centralized monitoring.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, integrated systems testing, deficiency tracking, and operational acceptance.
  • Experience working with general contractors, security integrators, low-voltage contractors, design consultants, commissioning agents, and owner’s representatives.
  • Experience developing security standards, installation details, inspection checklists, test scripts, or turnover documentation.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, regional requirements, and secure facility operations.
  • Certifications such as PSP, CPP, PMP, RCDD, or BICSI, or relevant platform certifications for systems such as LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, CCure, or Axis.

What Success Looks Like
