Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Hive, you will prototype state-of-the-art neural networks, train and deploy models into production, and build scalable data pipelines that power real-world AI. This onsite role in Seattle, WA offers cross-functional collaboration with Backend, DevOps, and data labeling teams in a fast-growing startup. The position carries a salary range of USD 120,000 to 180,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ML production work: design and code the neural network, gather and refine data, train and tune the model, deploy at scale with high throughput and uptime, and analyze results in the wild to continuously improve accuracy and speed.
  • Interface closely with Backend and DevOps teams as well as our internal data labeling services.
  • Apply OWASP top 10 techniques to secure code from vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices for data maintenance handling as it relates to this role.
  • Adhere to policies, guidelines and procedures pertaining to the protection of information assets.
  • Report actual or suspected security and/or policy violations/breaches to an appropriate authority.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or a similar technical field, with significant coursework in mathematics or statistics.
  • 1-2 years of industry machine learning experience.
  • Successfully trained and deployed a deep learning model (image, NLP, video, or audio) into production, with measurable improvement over baseline, either in industry or as a personal project.
  • Strong experience with high-level ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, or Torch, and familiarity with others.
  • Proficiency with Python, especially as it applies to the above ML frameworks.
  • Ability to quickly code and prototype data pipelines involving Python, Node, Bash, and Linux command-line tools, particularly for large datasets consisting of millions of files.
  • Working knowledge of C++, Scala/Spark, SQL, Cassandra, Docker.
  • Up-to-date understanding of the latest deep neural net research and architectures and how to implement them in your chosen ML framework.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others; strong team player with a do-it-yourself attitude.
