Machine Learning Engineer

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Qualcomm in San Diego, CA, you will design and deliver AI and Generative AI capabilities that help teams apply state-of-the-art machine learning solutions across mobile, edge, auto, and IoT products, with a focus on both hardware and software impact.

Role Overview

You will create and implement machine learning techniques, frameworks, and tools to support efficient discovery and use of advanced machine learning solutions. The work includes collaborating with cross-functional partners to improve strategic products through AI-driven network and Digital Twin related capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the design, development, and delivery of AI-powered capabilities aligned with Nimbus product objectives and customer needs.
• Support the development, evaluation, and deployment of AI and Generative AI solutions for network optimization, Digital Twin technologies, and other strategic AI-driven products.
• Partner with engineering, product, and domain experts to translate business and customer requirements into practical AI-enabled solutions.
• Explain technical concepts, project status, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Monitor emerging AI technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and identify opportunities to apply them across Nimbus initiatives.
• Use sound software engineering and AI development practices to build scalable, maintainable, high-quality solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of modern AI/ML concepts, including model development, evaluation, deployment, and operationalization.
• Experience delivering AI-enabled software products or features from concept through production deployment.
• Familiarity with AI concepts such as agentic AI frameworks, knowledge management systems, and other LLM-based applications.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on experience developing, fine-tuning, or deploying AI/ML models.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Experience with cloud-based AI platforms, MLOps practices, data engineering, or large-scale data processing systems.
• Familiarity with telecommunications, wireless networking, Digital Twin technologies, network automation, or intelligent network-management systems.
• Experience with Generative AI, agentic systems, multi-agent frameworks, LLM applications, or AI-assisted software development.
• Demonstrated interest in emerging AI technologies and their application to real-world engineering and product challenges.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Salary and Compensation

USD 122,800 - 184,200 per year
