Machine Learning Engineer, Agentic AI Systems

ServiceNow’s Moveworks unit is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to expand agentic AI capabilities and deliver increasingly capable and user-friendly experiences across the platform. This onsite role in Mountain View, CA focuses on productionizing advanced models and elevating NLU, enabling generative and conversational AI features at scale.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering, machine learning, and complex AI system engineering to create lasting value for customers.
• Tackle challenging conversational agent problems, including agent cognitive architecture iteration, multimodal and multilingual agents, conversational memory management, and advanced reasoning strategies such as Tree of Thoughts and Graph of Thoughts.
• Fine-tune LLMs for tool use and enterprise reasoning, incorporating alignment approaches like RLHF, RLAIF, and DPO; perform agent evaluation and active learning for few-shot text classification, abstractive summarization, and grounding.
• Advance Moveworks commitments to responsible AI by expanding infrastructure for fairness and safety, performing red-teaming to ensure safe and intended behavior, and upholding data privacy and security standards.
• Design new algorithms and architectures using current ML advances, run small-scale experiments, and productionize solutions at scale.
• Research and develop innovative, scalable, and dynamic solutions to hard problems while leveraging the latest ML research to enhance products and user experiences.
• Allocate time weekly to read, discuss, and potentially build models from the latest ML research and open-source code.

Requirements

• Commitment to shipping product improvements with production-quality, fully tested code and rigorous evaluation of model updates, prompts, or tunable system components.
• Ability to solve problems end-to-end using machine learning.
• Solid grasp of model evaluation fundamentals for text generation, text classification, and non-uniform sampling regimes.
• Attention to data quality for training and evaluation datasets.
• readiness to work in a Mac development environment, with proficiency in Python and/or Golang.
• Knowledge of deep learning architectures and large language models.
• Desire to operate at a startup pace within a medium-sized company and take ownership of outcomes.
• Drive to ship product improvements with production-grade code and a bias toward rapid, incremental wins on challenging projects.
• Curiosity about engineering beyond immediate discipline and a sustained interest in staying at the cutting edge of natural language understanding and AI.
