Job Description

Kimley-Horn’s St. Pete, Florida office is hiring a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of related experience. This is an onsite, non-remote role that blends mechanical and HVAC design oversight with project execution, client interaction, and proposal support.

In this position, you will coordinate technical work across project teams, mentor designers and technical staff, and help drive deliverables from early concepts through completion. You will also contribute to responses to RFPs and RFQs as part of Kimley-Horn’s client and marketing efforts.

Role Focus

  • Mechanical/HVAC design oversight from concept through completion, with ongoing coordination with the design team and clients.
  • Project management responsibilities performed in conjunction with lead engineer expectations.
  • RFP/RFQ responses for a range of clients and marketing opportunities.
  • Technical leadership through mentoring and coordinating designers and other technical staff on mechanical and multi-discipline projects.
  • Collaboration with other industry professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls.
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems, including water, sewer, and gas.
  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies, including comcheck and Title 24.
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating EITs, designers, and other technical staff on mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
  • Ability to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a multi-discipline team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
