Mechanical Engineer - CFD (Data Center Cooling)
Job Description
Mechanical Engineer – CFD focused on data center cooling, developing CFD models and optimizing thermal performance across data center spaces and external infrastructure, hybrid in New York, NY, USD 70,000 - 150,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Build CFD models for data center white space and adjoining external infrastructure
- Simulate airflow, heat transfer and pressure to enhance cooling efficiency
- Evaluate thermal responses and environmental conditions both inside and outside
- Collaborate with MEP and architecture teams to inform design decisions
- Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization through simulations
- Support cooling strategy development, containment concepts, and equipment layouts
Requirements
- 3 to 5+ years of CFD experience, with Cadence preferred
- Background in data center cooling or HVAC systems
- Strong grasp of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Experience with cooling technologies such as CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, and liquid cooling
- Ability to translate complex CFD results into clear, actionable insights
- EIT or PE certification, or progress toward certification, preferred
- Experience in mission critical or high-density environments
