Mechanical Engineer - CFD (Data Center Cooling)

Mechanical Engineer – CFD focused on data center cooling, developing CFD models and optimizing thermal performance across data center spaces and external infrastructure, hybrid in New York, NY, USD 70,000 - 150,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Build CFD models for data center white space and adjoining external infrastructure
• Simulate airflow, heat transfer and pressure to enhance cooling efficiency
• Evaluate thermal responses and environmental conditions both inside and outside
• Collaborate with MEP and architecture teams to inform design decisions
• Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization through simulations
• Support cooling strategy development, containment concepts, and equipment layouts

Requirements

• 3 to 5+ years of CFD experience, with Cadence preferred
• Background in data center cooling or HVAC systems
• Strong grasp of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
• Experience with cooling technologies such as CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, and liquid cooling
• Ability to translate complex CFD results into clear, actionable insights
• EIT or PE certification, or progress toward certification, preferred
• Experience in mission critical or high-density environments
