Mechanical Engineer - Piping

Permanent role in Reading, PA (onsite) with a salary range of $140,000–$180,000 per year. This position supports industrial and process facility projects by owning piping design work from calculations and documentation through construction support, with a focus on code-compliant systems and accurate field verification.

What you’ll do

• Design piping systems for metals, pharmaceutical, food processing, and general manufacturing plants.
• Complete line sizing, pressure drop, and material quantity calculations.
• Develop P&IDs, isometrics, and plans and elevation drawings to support project documentation.
• Perform pipe stress analysis as part of the design process.
• Specify and select piping components and materials based on system requirements.
• Verify designs comply with applicable piping codes and standards.
• Conduct field verification, including walk-downs and documentation of existing plant conditions.
• Support construction troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup activities.

What you bring

• BS Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing and sizing industrial piping systems.
• Experience producing P&IDs, isometrics, and plan/elevation drawings.
• Experience with multiple process fluid services, including water, gases, oils, chemicals, and solvents.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Ability to walk and stand on the plant floor for extended periods.

Helpful experience

• EIT certification (a plus).
• Experience with pipe stress analysis software (a plus).
• Experience with BIM and 3D plant design software (a plus).
