Mechanical Structural Engineer II

Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Structural Engineer II to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department in Tucson, AZ. This onsite position supports structural and thermal design robustness across Raytheon’s product portfolio through engineering analysis, test planning, data correlation, and technical reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programs
• Create test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance with customer requirements
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models and/or generate mechanical loads and environments
• Collaborate with experienced analysts on moderately complex problems to deliver program answers within cost and schedule constraints
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews to ensure technical accuracy of work products
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers
• Produce detailed, archival technical reports
• Travel to test sites to support test or design discussions, based on the assigned work

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a STEM major obtained by the start date
• Experience in structural analysis using tools such as PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent software
• Experience with mechanical principles to solve classical structural engineering problems inside and outside of software tools
• Experience may be gained through on-the-job work, research, coursework, or projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in structural testing, including planning, organization, execution, and data reduction and correlation
• Experience with dynamic shock and vibration analysis
• Experience with solid modeling CAD tools such as CREO or equivalent
• Experience with Matlab
• Ability to travel to government and other facilities to support program activities

Security Clearance Requirements

• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

• Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Location and Work Setting

This position is onsite in Tucson, AZ. Onsite roles work primarily onsite, including production and maintenance employees essential to product development.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is USD 68,900 - 131,100 per year.
