Member of Technical Staff (LA) – AI Engineer

NTT DATA AIVista is looking for a Member of Technical Staff (LA) – AI Engineer to help design, build, and ship AI capabilities that run in production. This role is focused on hands-on engineering work for enterprise clients, spanning agentic infrastructure, model customization, and agentic workflows.

Based in Palo Alto, CA with an onsite work arrangement, you will collaborate with experienced engineering and science teams to solve complex technical challenges and deploy scalable AI solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy AI capabilities, including agentic infrastructure, model customization, and agentic workflows for large enterprise customers.
• Partner with engineering and science teams to build scalable AI capabilities and deliver them within enterprise environments.
• Write production-quality software using modern AI technologies and take end-to-end ownership of meaningful components or capabilities, from implementation through deployment and ongoing improvement.

What You Bring

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Master’s or PhD degree preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including hands-on work building or contributing to AI-powered products or production AI systems.
• Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering, with hands-on experience developing production-quality software.
• Hands-on experience with one or more modern AI technologies or architectures, such as:
  • Agentic systems and agent orchestration
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Model customization, tuning, or optimization
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • AI infrastructure and inference systems
  • Data processing and knowledge pipelines
  • Agent protocols or multi-agent architectures
• Experience turning AI techniques or models into practical software capabilities.
• Ability to make sound implementation decisions and weigh tradeoffs across performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Curiosity and the ability to learn quickly as AI technologies and development practices evolve.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Compensation and Benefits

• Estimated salary range: $180,000–$240,000 USD per year
• Total compensation: includes variable pay via an annual target bonus and other cash incentives, with a combined potential of up to 150% of base salary
