Network Security Engineer
Job Description
The Network Security Engineer at mPulse Mobile designs, implements, and maintains network security controls to help protect the organization from cyber threats and unauthorized access. This role reports directly to the Director of Infrastructure and is fully remote.
Role Overview
In this position, you will strengthen mPulse Mobile’s network security posture by building and supporting secure network configurations, managing perimeter and VPN access, administering hybrid connectivity between on premises and AWS, and monitoring for threats through intrusion detection and prevention capabilities. You will also participate in incident response support and work across teams to reinforce security policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain network security solutions that address threats and vulnerabilities.
- Configure and manage firewall devices, including rule creation, access control, and VPN tunnel configuration.
- Maintain core switching and firewall environments, including Palo Alto firewalls and functional networks.
- Administer and maintain hybrid networks between on premises and AWS Cloud Availability Zones.
- Administer security updates and maintain careful documentation of network changes.
- Interpret existing configurations and understand how systems align with the overall network design.
- Deploy and monitor intrusion detection/prevention systems to detect and protect against malicious activity.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide incident response support, including analysis, containment, and recovery during security incidents.
- Stay current on emerging threats and preventative steps to sustain a high security posture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in computer science or information technology (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Knowledge of current networking protocols and standards.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto networks.
- Working knowledge of AWS networking standards.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft networks.
