Responsibilities

As a Field Engineer, you will provide technical engineering information to support construction work that aligns with engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications. You will partner with project crews, office teams, and engineering leaders throughout the project to keep work on track.

  • Meet daily with project crews to review the production schedule and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available to support progress within schedule and budget.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project to support quality and compliance.
  • Provide technical input for the project work plan and scheduling, identifying production, materials, equipment, or process risk elements that could affect budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance, documenting daily activities using Company approved methods and technologies.
  • Submit accurate project quantity input and manage assigned project cost coding so project financials are reported correctly, partnering with Company finance and accounting on employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
  • Review and approve daily timecards for Company construction crews; coordinate with the Office Manager, payroll, and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard questions as needed.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the start of work, during production, and after completion, and initiate and manage required certificates, inspections, and other site documentation.
  • Plan field layout with construction crews and engineering leaders, ensuring utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins, and initiate and manage permits required before work starts.
  • Assist with the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
  • 1+ years experience preferred.
  • Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
  • Beginner knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable project standards.
  • Ability to take responsibility and communicate effectively while interfacing with others.
