Principal/ Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer - Mission Systems
Job Description

This full-time role is based on-site in El Segundo, CA (with mission work also supporting San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo)) and includes travel up to 25%. A Secret clearance is required to start, with potential to obtain and maintain SAP clearance based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Design mission systems technical baselines across subsystems, components, and software to meet platform requirements.
- Lead trade studies and technical analysis, including modeling and simulation, while managing risk and opportunities in support of strategic objectives.
- Decompose system-level requirements, track and report metrics, and maintain productive relationships with customers, suppliers, peers, and leadership.
- Support mission system element design, capability assessment, interface decomposition, verification/validation planning, and mission integration throughout development.
- Perform subsystem trades and analysis of alternatives, including mission-effect, data, or capability modeling and simulation for air vehicles, payloads, ground segments, mission planning, CONOPS, DRM, system security, and interfaces.
- Engage customers and end users to translate requirements into deployable products.
- Support technical business development activities such as proposals and white papers.
Requirements
Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional or military engineering experience; or Master’s degree AND 3 years; or Ph.D. AND 1 year.
Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional or military engineering experience; or Master’s degree AND 6 years; or Ph.D. AND 4 years.
- Experience supporting Supplier SSOW, SRD, and scope discussions.
- Significant experience in at least two of the following: Technical leadership on DoD development projects; system architecture concepts or solutions; performance modeling and simulation.
- Significant experience in at least two of the following: Designing systems with COTS/GOTS components for DoD interoperability for RF or EO/IR sensing, EW, or communications; Non-kinetic effects (cyber operations); DoD cyber requirements, RMF, and solutions.
- Significant experience in at least two of the following: Identifying or managing system capabilities; producing architecture artifacts; preparing or reviewing architecture designs and presenting at DoD customer reviews.
- Active US Government Secret clearance with background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering experience on a DoD program.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Prior SAP or SCI clearance.
- Significant architecture, design, integration, and test experience.
- Systems engineering experience (requirements derivation/flow-down, verification/validation).
- Experience leading design of mission systems or subsystems.

Location, Work Arrangement, and Travel
- Work arrangement: Full-time, on-site at the facility. No remote, hybrid, or telework options are available.

Compensation
- Primary level salary range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
- Secondary level salary range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
