Job Description
The Process Automation Engineer will drive ADR based automated inspection initiatives to improve quality, throughput, and digital transformation within automotive manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and refine ADR workflows across non-destructive testing modalities including UT, RT, EC, MT, PT, and thermography; implement automated defect classification, signal processing, and review decision logic.
- Integrate ADR platforms with robotics, PLCs, MES, SCADA, and production lines; ensure robust data exchange between inspection hardware, control systems, and quality databases.
- Analyze NDT data trends, defect signatures, and system performance; develop algorithms or rule sets to boost detection accuracy and lower false positives.
- Identify bottlenecks in inspection and automation workstreams; implement improvements to raise throughput, minimize scrap, and improve repeatability.
- Lead root cause investigations into defect trends, equipment failures, and process deviations using structured problem solving techniques.
- Perform validation, calibration, and capability studies for ADR and NDT systems to ensure adherence to automotive quality standards.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and NDT Level II/III personnel to ensure inspection systems meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation, inspection procedures, and compliance records in alignment with automotive and NDT standards.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts aligned with Lean, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0, emphasizing automation, digital inspection, and data driven quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, NDT Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in automotive or other high-volume production environments.
- Hands-on experience with NDT systems (including FPI, PT, and X-Ray RT at minimum) and ADR technologies.
- Proficiency programming and integrating robotics and industrial automation hardware.
- United States work authorization required; verification will be performed. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.
- This position involves access to export-controlled items; candidates must be able to lawfully access such items.
