Professional Facilities Engineer

Job Description

Plan, direct, and support engineering work for port docks facilities and inland waterways in Mobile, Alabama.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise assigned engineering activities for port and inland waterway facilities; provide technical guidance and advice.
  • Recommend and interpret applicable policy for subordinates as needed.
  • Meet with and advise public and private agencies, committees, and individuals on docks and inland waterway policies and programs.
  • Contribute to engineering budget preparation and participate in long-range engineering planning.
  • Review subordinate recommendations and reports related to complex location, design, construction, and maintenance challenges.
  • Conduct investigations as directed by administrative and professional superiors and prepare investigation reports.
  • Guide preparation, administration, and review of engineering proposals prior to submission to superiors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 2 years of post-licensure engineering experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering principles and theories.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Possess a Professional Engineer’s License issued by the Alabama Board for Registration of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC.
  • Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods while using a computer.
  • May be required to work or observe work above ground level or in confined spaces.
  • May be required to climb stairs and ladders.
  • May be required to supervise activities of other engineers and technicians.

Certification / Licensure

Pay

  • $90,854.00 - $154,452.00 per year
