Plan, direct, and support engineering work for port docks facilities and inland waterways in Mobile, Alabama.

Plan and supervise assigned engineering activities for port and inland waterway facilities; provide technical guidance and advice.
Recommend and interpret applicable policy for subordinates as needed.
Meet with and advise public and private agencies, committees, and individuals on docks and inland waterway policies and programs.
Contribute to engineering budget preparation and participate in long-range engineering planning.
Review subordinate recommendations and reports related to complex location, design, construction, and maintenance challenges.
Conduct investigations as directed by administrative and professional superiors and prepare investigation reports.
Guide preparation, administration, and review of engineering proposals prior to submission to superiors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
2 years of post-licensure engineering experience.
Excellent knowledge of engineering principles and theories.
Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office.
Possess a Professional Engineer’s License issued by the Alabama Board for Registration of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain TWIC.
Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods while using a computer.
May be required to work or observe work above ground level or in confined spaces.
May be required to climb stairs and ladders.
May be required to supervise activities of other engineers and technicians.
