Project Engineer

Aurora, OH onsite with a clear mix of customer-facing work and hands-on process improvement. This Project Engineer role supports new product development, redesigns, and technology introductions while coordinating improvements across production and assembly. You will collaborate across engineering, quality, manufacturing, sales, and marketing, with benefits that support long-term stability and everyday life.

What you’ll do

• Work in the field with customers on new and existing product development.
• Support customers with existing products and technical issues when requested by sales.
• Partner directly with engineering, quality, and manufacturing for complaint handling, questions, and product inquiries.
• Explain technical issues clearly for layperson comprehension.
• Develop prints for new and existing products, including APQP, negotiation of major and critical dimensions, FMEA, and recommended assembly procedures.
• Produce progress reports for developmental programs and recommend whether to expand or discontinue them with engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and top management.
• Consult with operating and sales personnel on new and improved products, processes, and materials.
• Assist in preparing special quotes with engineering and sales.
• Provide competitive pricing information for target product replacement.
• Recommend changes to product lines and production focus, including research and reporting impacts to sales volume, expenses, profitability, and required effort from sales and engineering.
• Report customer feedback related to technical support performance, working closely with sales to relay needs back to the OEM/Miller team.
• Help develop and improve production processes for current and new products.
• Identify and prioritize programs that are not meeting quoted production standards, set improvement timelines, and include profit/loss analysis.
• Develop and maintain process FMEA documentation.
• Assist with Design of Experiments to improve processes.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in engineering or a related field, or equivalent related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of advanced quality engineering principles, plus basic computer skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
• Physical and vision requirements include regular talking/hearing, frequent sitting and use of hands/fingers, occasional standing/walking/reaching, and occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
• Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This role is mostly office with approximately 30% traveling, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and a moderate noise environment.
